Building a new PC is a lot more fun if you are getting everything the right way. However, most of the time, things can be confusing for a lot of people and they don’t know what to do, in the first place.

Thankfully, the process is not that difficult, and when you are building a new gaming PC, you will have a great overall experience.
What we are going to do is look at a few common mistakes when building a PC.

I know it might not sound like something that is for everyone but in reality, this is going to help you a lot in getting things done, and that is the purpose here.

Additionally, we want to be certain that our readers have a full understanding of how to build a new PC for themselves.

Common mistakes when building PC

Buying Hardware That is Not Compatible

The first mistake that you should avoid here is buying hardware that is not compatible with each other. To sort that out, we would suggest that you go to pcpartpicker.com and start building a PC there, and that will help you determine just what exactly are you looking at when building a new PC.
Thankfully, once the compatibility issue is out of the way, you can just get started with your PC.

Installing the Hardware Incorrectly

Another mistake that I see people make all the time is that they install the wrong hardware all the time, and that is not the correct thing to do, in the first place. Thankfully, the process has become a lot easier thanks to all the guides that are available on the internet and you can use that for your convenience. Installing the hardware incorrectly can also damage the hardware to the point of no return.

Best Power Supply (PSU) Under 100

Not Connecting the Right Power Connectors

If you are using auxiliary power connectors which are common in almost all modern computers, then you must connect the right power connectors. Not doing so will result in the computer either not turning on,

or not giving any post on the main screen, either. Therefore, it is better than you are checking all the connections before you go ahead and build your PC.

Leaving the Plastic Sheet on Your Components

Provided that you have bought the components brand new, most of them are going to ship with a plastic sheet on them, namely the GPUs, and in some cases, the CPUs as well,

or sometimes the underside of the cooler which is also known as the cold plate. Just be certain that you are removing the plastic sheet wherever you see it.

Why? Because plastic can eventually melt once the computer turns on, this is done due to the heat, and we have to avoid that from happening, in the first place.

Incorrectly Seating the RAM or the Graphics Card

I have noticed this happening a lot of the time, and people just end up incorrectly seating the RAM or the graphics card. This can prevent the system from posting, or worse, it can damage the hardware as well. Therefore, whenever you are building a new PC, be sure that the RAM and the graphics card is seated properly.

Not Installing the Motherboards Standoff

Ideally, most of the cases that you are looking at in the market will have the motherboard standoffs installed, to begin with. However, in some cases, you will have to install the standoffs yourself.

If that is the case, make sure that you are installing these standoffs properly, because otherwise, things might get out of hand, and that is not what we want, in the first place.

Final Word

Building a computer is not that difficult, to begin with. But the thing that you must understand is that making mistakes is also easy to make, and most of the time, you are not sure what to do and where to begin.

With this guide, we tried our best to be certain that you are fully aware of what you must understand when you are building a new computer. The process is not going to be that difficult, in the first place and once you do follow this guide, you will be able to build a computer effectively.
