Chromebooks are unique laptops that offer a practical alternative to traditional computers. Because they are designed to be simple to use, they have most of the latest methods for connecting with other devices and peripherals.
Naturally, this means you’ll need to connect headphones and earphones, which can be helpful when using your laptop in public or noisy spaces.
Owners of the highly praised but pricey Apple AirPods may want to know if they can use their pricey buds with their new Chromebooks. How to Connect AirPods to a Chromebook?
How to Connect AirPods to a Chromebook
Yes, you can use your Apple AirPods with your Chromebook device. They can be connected to devices with Bluetooth connectivity because the buds themselves use that same technology.
After you connect, your AirPods will let you listen to your Chromebook’s audio while watching Netflix and YouTube videos. The headphones will let you listen to music, voice and video chat, and anything else that generates audio.
You’ll also be able to use the headphone’s built-in microphone during calls.
Do AirPod Controls Work on Chromebook?
Yes, you can use the AirPod controls on your Apple devices on your Chromebook, but with some limitations. Although you can pause, play, and skip music and adjust the volume by using your single, double, and triple tap gestures, you cannot customize these actions.
As a result, you can not change the commands that these taps execute. You cannot use your AirPods to bring up Google Assistant on your Chromebook.
While holding your AirPods and tapping them on the side of your iPhone or iPad will normally bring up Siri, it won’t do the same on a non-Apple device.
In addition, other features such as spatial audio will not work on a Chromebook. However, noise cancellation seems to work fine.

Step 1: Turn on Bluetooth
To set the network connection on your Chromebook, click on the network icon located next to the battery % icon and digital clock. This is where your wireless Internet connection, Bluetooth devices, notifications, and more are located.
To begin, ensure that Bluetooth is enabled in your smartphone’s settings. By selecting the Bluetooth icon in the quick menu, you can toggle this feature.
Alternatively, you can enter Settings by pressing the cogwheel icon. Next to Bluetooth, you will see a toggle switch that allows you to choose whether or not your device is connected to a WiFi network.
Select the button to activate it, then select the arrow icon to access the pairing menu. As soon as Bluetooth is activated, your laptop will begin scanning for other wireless devices.
Step 2: Make AirPods Discoverable
If AirPods are not already discoverable, place them in the mode required to pair them with your Chromebook. Place both buds in their case and find a button on the back. It’s a small cutout in the shape of a circle.
To open the case, press and hold down the button on its front until the little LED on the case turns white and blinks slowly. Now, your AirPods are ready to be discovered. Visit your Chromebook for the next step.
Step 3: Pair Your AirPods
After a bit of scanning, your Chromebook should have detected your AirPods. They will appear in the Bluetooth device list from the first step. When next to their name, a headphone icon should be displayed to further confirm that these headphones are recognized as an audio output device.
To pair AirPods with your iPhone, turn on the Bluetooth settings and select the AirPods from the list of paired devices. After a second or two, you should receive a pop-up confirming that the pairing was successful.
Upon leaving this menu, a pop-up on the bottom-right should appear that states you can remove this pairing from the Settings menu. Your AirPods are now connected to your Chromebook.
If you have a laptop with volume control, you can adjust the volume of your AirPods using that feature. If your headphones or earphones are not AirPods, you can still follow this same process to pair them so long as they have Bluetooth.
