What Is a Steam ID and How Do I Get One?
A Steam ID, or Steam account name, is a 17-character string of digits that uniquely identifies each person on the platform. When linking other people to your profile, your Steam ID appears in the URL of your profile page (unless you’ve set your page to use a custom URL).
Your Steam ID is used to redirect others to your profile page and for use with third-party tools, such as SteamDB and Steam ID Finder. Some game companies may also ask you for your Steam ID so they can use their games and services.
The Steam ID is a unique identifier that can be used to log into your account, by virtue of it being the only piece of information required to connect a user’s computer and account. If you need to find your Steam ID, there are several ways to do so easily.
How to Find Your Steam ID
You can find your Steam ID in several different ways, as we will cover below.
The Account Details Page
To find your Steam ID, go to your Account details page. To start, launch Steam and click on your display name in the upper right corner; then click Account details in the context menu.

On Your Profile Page
Another way to get your Steam ID is to go to your profile page. To start, open Steam and then hover your Mouse over your display name in the top right corner.
Now, bring up a context menu by right-clicking on a blank space on the page. Then click on Copy page URL. This will copy your profile page URL, which contains your Steam ID, to your clipboard.
Paste the URL into a text editor, and copy the digits at the end of the URL, excluding any forward slashes.
Enable the Steam URL Address Bar
You can easily access your Steam ID by enabling the address bar in Steam. In order to do that, launch Steam and then click on the Steam button in the top left corner of the screen. To enable this feature,

Visit your profile using a web browser
An alternative to accessing your profile is to enable the address bar in your Steam client to find your Steam ID. From a web browser, go to the Steam website and log in.
After you have logged in, please hover your cursor over your display name at the top of the page and click on Profile. Your Steam ID can be found at the end of the URL in the address bar. Please copy the digits located at the end of the URL, omitting any forward slashes (/).
